0727 | The Body | Bill Bryson

Context: Mrs Arukiyomi treated me to a weekend away for my 50th while reading this.
Can’t go wrong with Bryson really. He’s readable, amusing, and in the case of his latest spate of fact-filled releases, very informative. Bryon’s Body fits the bill (no pun intended) perfectly.
It’s quite a large book. Ever since his 2003 Short HIstory of Nearly Everything, Bryson has waxed lyrical. Body weighs in at a hefty 368 hardback pages but you’ll breeze through it even if the editing feels a bit patchy at times.
The book’s divided into many sections you would expect (The Brain, The Head, The Guts) and a few you wouldn’t (Bipedalism and Exercise, Medicine Good and Bad, Microbial You), but each of these is packed with fascinating tidbits of info about, well, you.
Trouble is, I can’t remember any of them now, even the ones I read out to the wife. Ah well, you’ll have to read it for yourself.
